We're working on moving all of the following object types into a "system" layer:
1. Overlays
2. PDF Hyperlinks
3. Scale Dimensions
The reason to move these into a "System" layer is so that when you duplicate layers, it doesn't have to duplicate all this data per layer for it to be visible.

When sharing a Project with users outside your workspace, we have a few options:
1. Automatically share system layer unless "No Layers" is chosen
2. Automatically share system layer if any layer is chosen
3. Only share system layer if it is explicitly chosen from the layers list when sharing.

We welcome any input for how you would expect it to work.
If a user is sharing a single layer with an external user (or viewer), do you think system layer should be automatically shared with it (overlays, scale lines, etc.), or only share if the user explicitly shares the system layer?
I can see the potential benefits of both options. That being said, I think it may be better to not share any βotherβ layers unless I specifically state that I want to.
Can we enable other layers after the fact just as we can change roles and licenses?
π3Love this! Can't wait for this to be deployed by the way, but now my feedback:
I think this is too complicated. You don't need the system and the drop-down in the top-right layers. It just confuses people, it confuses me.
The only thing you need to do is this: when you hit the default layer and you duplicate it, there's just a little checkbox that says, "Do you want to include scale, hyperlink, and overlays?" Do that but by default I always want those three things you listed out duplicated.
I don't understand why we're making up screen real estate and complicating this. Needs to be simpler. Remove the word "system." Don't complicate that. When you share it should be able to select share pages only. That's very clear to me. They don't get the scales, the hyperlinks, and overlays
π4I tend to agree with Kyle on this. I think adding a 'dummy' layer where the scale, hyperlinks, and overlays live is a bit clunky of a UI/UX solution. If this is how it's being handled on the backend, that's cool, but I do think it is a bit confusing for users.
I think I'd rather filter these in and out of view via a right click menu, using the '/' tools shortcut, or through a tool bar revamp/reorganization (which might be a bit overdue with all the new features y'all have been adding in over the past year).
π3On overlays, not sure I'd want them on a system level, for example when I have a changed set of drawings, I want to over lay that new drawing with the latest version, for example, I have a job right now with 8 different versions for 1 drawing, I would want to have 8 overlays in there, maybe if there is an option to toggle on/off if you want system layers to be included when creating a new layer. I use layers for different drawing issues, what would be nice is being able to make a certain drawing set automatically the current set
π3I like the idea, but would also like a "Show All" Layers that shows everything (all the layers) in one layers
