Can there be an option for a 1 click to copy a takeoff item? Right now, you have to copy, then paste, if you can create a copy takeoff button, it does the copy and paste in one function.
I've seen this request a few times from the bluebeam nerds with holding control to copy........kind of cool......to be honost I'm so use to control C and control V my keys are faded.
Here is a 30 second vid how it works in bluebeam LINK
I've used that feature in bluebeam, In on-screen I can duplicate takeoff item with one-click and then from the takeoff window I am able to rename the takeoff without going into properties. This would make using this that much faster
I’m a 10 year ost user and don’t think it’s any quicker. In OST You that to right click, then find duplicate, click that, then you have to double click on the screen and rename it.
in zz you control c & v then double click to open property then rename it.
hmmm we should do a head to head battle lol.
I have downloaded windows power toys, and then use it to re-map my F3 key to "Ctrl + c" and my F4 key to "Ctrl + v". Just saves me the finger stretching finding ctrl c and v all the time.
Not really with OST as soon as you duplicate the condition, it goes into rename mode automatically and you can rename the condition after the duplicate no need to double click on it to rename it.
Hi, great feature request! What exactly would you want to trigger the copy and paste? (menu? button? link? location? color? size?)
If I could add, in OST in the window list of your takeoff items, there is a button at the bottom of the window that you click and it will create a duplicate of the takeoff item currently selected. This duplicate will have the same properties as the takeoff item it duplicated, including it's "section" (approx. equivalent to folder in zz), with a new color and the name of the item already highlighted and in "editing" mode so you can just type in the new name and hit enter.
OST Workflow Example: I am counting light fixtures by "each" and am actively counting type "L1". I see I am done with type "L1" and see type "L2". Assuming the item I want to duplicate is already selected, I click the duplicate button, OST creates a duplicate by "each" item under the "Light Fixtures" folder, I type in the new name "L2", hit enter, and can immediately begin clicking on the L2 fixtures to count. It takes (1) button click, typing the name, and (1) keystroke to begin counting my item.
ZZ Workflow Example: Same scenario as above, assuming the item I want to duplicate is already selected, hit CTRL+C, hit CTRL+V, double click it (or hit F2) to open properties box, click the name field and type to new name, hit enter to save, hit "N" to start counting the new item, and start counting. ZZ takes (2) keystrokes, (1) double click or (1) keystroke, (1) click and highlight, typing the name, (2) keystrokes.
I'm sure in time, the process would become second nature, as I am new to zz versus 4 years in OST, but the amount of "steps" in the OST workflow is less than zz, and may not seem like a big time save until you have a large project with many items you would duplicate. I am aware of right clicking the item and hitting duplicate, but this also carries the quantities with it, which is not the intent. I'd say a button at the top or bottom of the takeoff list like in OST, and/or a keyboard shortcut would be helpful. If you could make clicking the button or hitting the keyboard shortcut perform a "copy/paste" while highlighting the name to let us edit it without having to open to the properties menu, that would be fantastic.
Yes, that is what I am getting at, is for ZZ to mimic the copy process as in OST, its a 1 click operation, where it copies, and then I can re-name in the same step.
