Hey Chaz! If you hold down the "CTRL" key while clicking & dragging, it should force the smart select popover to show instead of selecting the takeoffs/annotations.

Yes. Currently, we always display the count symbol on the takeoff legend. Is this what you were after, or were you talking about a different location?
