New Update: Resizable Sidebars, Snap/Ortho, Reports Grid, and much more...

Thanks everyone for your patience. We just released a new update with a ton of new features:

Resizable Sidebars

Better use of screen real estate (collapsible will be coming in the future).

Searchable Sidebars

Easy and quick filters for pages and takeoff items.

Multi-Select

For dragging groups of pages into folders, deleting, etc.

Easier access to takeoff data

Expand pages or takeoff totals to see sub-totals, and section details. Click individual pages or sections to navigate directly to them on the plans.

Expand All / Collapse All

In right click menu.

New Section Button

Just hover over the takeoff item and click the + icon to continue a new section. No more double click on takeoff item to draw more. In the future double click on the takeoff item will open properties.

Snap / Ortho

Snap to existing points or hover points to draw ortho to them. Easier drawing shapes. Note: this snapping & ortho is for existing points you have drawn in your takeoff. Snapping to PDF points will come in a separate update.

Hover Hint

Hover over takeoff sections on the page to see more details.

Print Current View

Either to printer or as PDF.

Warning when page is not scaled

Now if you try to start a takeoff measurement it will warn you to scale the page.

Link between Page and Takeoff Totals

Now when you click an item on the page, the Takeoff Totals will scroll and highlight the item.

Page Name / Scale at Bottom of Screen

Easier to see the page you're on and scale preset.

Highlighter Defaults to Box Mode

Faster and easier to highlight stuff.

New Reports Page with Grouping / Sorting

This new grid will allow lots of new features. We have a start point, but there is much more coming. For now you can group and sort any way you want and export to CSV or Excel. We will be adding saved views, and much more in the future here.

Login with Microsoft

2 Factor Authentication

Now available under "My Account" if you login with password. If you login with Google or Microsoft, you can enable 2 Factor Authentication within their login settings and it automatically applies when you login to zzTakeoff with those apps.

New Hotkeys

  • N - new section
  • Page Up - prev page
  • Page Down - next page
  • T - align points top (if multiple points are selected)
  • B - align points bottom (if multiple points are selected)
  • L - align points left (if multiple points are selected)
  • R - align points right (if multiple points are selected)

Speed Optimizations

This is the one that took the most time. We re-architected the entire calculation engine behind the scenes to be much more optimized. You will see some significant speed gains in this release, and it also unlocks 3 or 4 major speed gains that will be achievable in the future. Thank you for your patience. This took us much longer than we expected to fully implement and test.

There are many more small updates not listed here. We fixed many other misc bugs for importing, compatibility, etc. Now that this update is released, we expect to go back to much more frequent iterative releases.

Thanks for all your support, and for all the feedback you are posting here. We are listening, and our goal is to provide you with the best takeoff tool available based on your input 🙂

Wow, this is fantastic! Desktop tools slow us down, so I'm thrilled to see all these features in a WEB Takeoff tool drop so quickly and magically at my fingertips without having to go through IT to get our current deskstop takeoff software updated. The resizable and searchable sidebars, multi-select, and easier access to takeoff data are critical features I've been waiting for to give this a whirl.

One point of feedback: it would be incredibly helpful if you could also drop a short video explaining these features along with the text and graphics. As someone with mild self-diagnosed dyslexia, I find videos much easier to follow. Keep up the amazing work!
