When you draw an "Area" or other takeoff item on a page, we currently anchor those points to the page, so that you have to hold Alt + Drag to move it (or the "Move" command after we release that). The reason we do this is to make it less likely to accidentally move an area when selecting it for the sake of precision.
On annotations like Notes and Arrows, you can just click & drag without Alt.
What do you think of a "Move Handle" that shows at the center of all selected items (even for takeoff items), so that you can move it by click & dragging (no need to hold Alt). Some graphics apps have these, and we're curious what you think?
EDIT: To clarify this would be in addition to the "Move Command" which will prompt you to click an origin point, and offset all selected items to a specific destination point.
I don’t mind it. Looks like a good way to “handle” things on a touchscreen.
I think it's a good idea. And yeah like john said it offers a solution for touch screen users too
I would recommend sticking in a toggle to turn it on and off in the user settings area just in case some users find it intrusive, the same way some seem to find the hover perimeter/area feature
I can see this being a time saver for Multi Family usage. If you copy the takeoffs from one profile/buidling type, you can past but be able to moive all items at once.
