Is there an Overlay feature to compare version sets? Planswift's overlay feature is really nice with the standard or comparative overlay with the ability to changes the color of each sheet.
Hi Bryan! We don't have this feature yet, but we are planning to add it. Just curious, you mention changing the color of each sheet. How many different overlays are you using at the same time?
Hi Heber, Thanks for the info. I bid Site Utility and some excavation work so I work with Civil Drawings 99% of the time. Usually I need to just compare drawing sets for bidding (that is when the comparative overlay is great (old design in red- new design changes in blue- no changes in black)) but when we are awarded a project, then I find myself overlaying just 1 or 2 at the same time (usually Demo over Utility, Demo over Geo, Demo over Grading, Utility over Grading, etc)
I definitely would miss this feature. Currently I use this alot in Ceilings & Partitions.
Heber,
Wondering if there is any ETA on this. I'm currently piloting this program and this one is likely a big deal for our estimators.
Thank you in advance.
Thanks for all the feedback. We don't have the ETA yet, except that it's on the radar and we're knocking out features as fast as possible. This is definitely an important one. We've been moving pretty fast, so hopefully we can get it soon. 🙂
Really need this soon. Long story short, had a project with poor coordination between arch and struc drawings, and it was just discovered that I missed some items on my takeoff that occurred around the entire perimeter of a floor. Boss just lit me up. I'm sure I was being rushed to finish that estimate, but that's nothing new.
Being able to overlay both sets of plans on top of each other in PS had helped me do a better job of catching these things instead of going back and forth between sets
Dang, sorry Jes. We will keep pushing. We're juggling getting a bunch of features in here, but we'll get it as soon as possible.
Overlaying is a critical feature in most takeoff tools… and honestly, it’s often clunky and not worth using. If we’re going to build it, we need to get it right.
One of the biggest gaps I see in ZZTakeoff is the lack of support for milestone drawing sets… 25% DDs… 75% DDs… 50% CDs… all flowing in throughout design. Right now, I find myself creating a ton of separate projects just to manage those changes. There’s no real way to contain multiple drawing sets within a single project.
This ties directly to overlay functionality, and I don’t see that addressed yet.
I’ve been working closely with the Ediphi design team, and this is something they’re prioritizing. I think it’d be worth setting up a call to talk through this and where it could go within ZZTakeoff. There’s a lot of potential here.
