LMESO - Labor Material Equipment Sub Other

Anyone figured out how to transfer LMSEO to a estimating tool as one line? Typically in estimating tools you can have one line item and apply LMSEO to that one line, zzTakeoff I have not figured out how to handle this. Any ideas?

Here is a 60second vid. LINK. I think I'm seeing the point of the SKU now too if I can crack this issue.

If you're going to transfer LMSEO to an estimating tool, do you need the estimating tool? You've already estimated that line in your takeoff software. Sum the lines up and you have a bid.

We do LMSEO as one line though and here it is in zz. There are some hidden columns that factor into this like crew makeup, crew payroll, tax, profit, labor burden, overhead, contingency, etc. End of the day, I think this is a similar idea to what you have above and it's very doable in zz with custom properties. This 8" CMU example looks like a material item but it's used to cover all costs.

@Kory,

Thanks for the reply. Great question and fun to reflect. I'd say these two reasons:

1) If everything is custom, we are basically building excel in the web and not scalable. A estimating tool helps with consistency.

2) We deal with 85% negotiated deals with napkin sketches to start and need a tool the predicts the quantities via parametric estimating with 3-5 pages of drawings for $100M jobs.

I'm headed down the path of making separate line items for each bucket right now and will be a later problem, this is going to be awesome still!

I'd argue everything is excel in the web. Everything is rows and columns (and tables). Permissions, locking, hiding, and templates establish consistency but its still "excel".
