Copy Paste Vs Duplicate

Hey guys,

Can someone please explain the different usage for copy and paste vs duplicate? in PS duplicate used to clone the item but zero out the values, now it seems to do something different. and if i want to clone sub items or takeoff items with zero value its copy/ paste. I can adapt but i just need to know the different purposes (Personally the copy paste is slower, and it doesn't open the property box, so its 3-4 clicks before i can edit values, it adds up)

Cheers

Good question, I'd like to hear how people use these differently in their workflows as well.

Hey Stephen,

Happy to share my experience.

I price mid rise concrete structures, no two are the same so everything needs to be a variable. In PS I had a couple of templates for each element. But mainly relied on duplicate, edit continue.

I tried the same workflow with ZZ but by the time I duplicated 4-5 times the values had accumulated/ compounded in each new item.

So I reverted to copy/ paste which is much slower. Copy>paste> open property> edit> takeoff. The duplicate way was duplicate (auto open properties) > edit> takeoff. About 3x faster for me.
