Hey group, I have been using ZZ for a few months now after picking up at WOC2026. Love the software and the concrete plug in is a game changer. One thing I haven't found yet is a formula that works for calculating curb and gutter. I have been essentially creating a curb formula by "filleting" the curb and treating it like a piece of flat "footing" per se.
My question is if there is a way to input this similar to a concrete calculator? Essentially creating variables for curb depth, curb height, gutter width, and flag thickness. Given these defined variables, the measured variable would be linear footage on a blueprint, creating the takeoff.
Open to any advice you guys have! Thank you in advance.
Hi Colby, let me check some templates and see if I can find anything.
Do I miss something here, how come not all of us have the "concrete plug in"?
Quick question on the Plugins, the $299 is per company not per seat?
I know that's not what this Q&A was really about 🤣.
@Shawn its per company.
@Colby can you try this formula based on a Linear takeoff?
(([Curb_Height] * [Curb_Width]) + ([Gutter_Width] * [Flag_Thickness])) / 144 * [Length] / 27
@Stephen, thanks for the information.
I may have missed the advertising/details of the plugin earlier as I didn’t realise there was a separate concrete package available for ZZTakeoff.
I’ll have a look into it further, but just wondering, is there any way to see a small glimpse/sample of the lines or assemblies within the plugin, preferably in metric? Or is there perhaps a tutorial or video within the training videos that shows how the plugin is structured and used?
I’m just trying to get a better understanding of how it’s set up and whether it would suit the way we estimate.
Hi @Todd,
Thanks very much for sending this through and for taking the time to put the video together.
I watched the video, and honestly anything that saves me from rebuilding everything from scratch is awesome.
I don’t mind adjusting labour costs, crew sizes, or even renaming folders and estimating assemblies to suit the way I structure my system. But modifying formulas, weights and all the backend logic, you know as much as I actually enjoy doing that sort of thing, I’d prefer not to in this case.
You know how it is… when you buy a new car, you just want to put the key in, start it and go.
So my question is pretty simple:
If I convert from imperial to metric say (linear:ft to linear:m), will everything still work properly as intended? Do you already have a metric/international version of the plugin for the rest of the world, or would I need to start modifying formulas, weights, assemblies, etc. myself?
Thanks again, Todd
Steve G.
Thanks Tood, I will have a chat to Sam, cheers mate!
