Chronic Assembly Manipulation Disorder (CAMD)

CAMD is a progressive cognitive condition caused by prolonged exposure to OST and QuickBid assembly manipulation tools, particularly when assemblies must be bent, twisted, rotated, and resized repeatedly to match field conditions.

So the brain damage caused by using OST for over 2 decades rears its head occasionally. After years of never being able to get some formulas just right , or bending and twisting the product to extreme, I realize many of my QB assemblies are not going to be useful in ZZT. Which is fine. However, the speed I am gaining in ZZT is quickly diminished when I go to add assemblies that are a bit more complex. Concrete Footings, for example. Yes, I will have to go in, watch some training vids, and read, but in the meantime my project does not get finished.

Yes, I can hear the violins now....

But, with that said, PS used to have the means for people to give, barter and sell assemblies. Is this possible in ZZT?

For example, I would like some basic concrete assemblies where I can visualize the rebar, saddles, & ties, for example.

Hi Mark, currently this is done in zzTakeoff by Stephen or James and on a very limited or special conditions and most within customers workspaces. We do intend on having a plugin store in the next few months.

BTW I have the same condition... There is a help line here at zzTakeoff.

Soooooo. I thought I saw a post or something about being able to import quick Bid Assemblies? I could be wrong (it has happened) , but if not can someone direct me ?

Hey Mark, we don't have a way to import quick bid assemblies yet (that I know of). I believe you may be referring to Kyle wanting to import from ost/quickbid in your other post here. Both of which are on our radar.

Hey Mark,

I specialise in concrete structures. (Metric).

when it came to reinforcement geometry, I had 8 years worth of templates and quick variability hacks from Planswift that didn't translate directly to ZZ.

to start fresh (a month ago) I created lists for all the reinforcement and libraries of custom properties, for count, linear and area, with the formulas embedded in each property (always calculating if utilised) then the actual part calls the particular property name(s) as the Qty and the LxWxH/D is pulled straight from the tool itself.

I used AI to assist with the calculations, but every formula required building, testing and correcting against real jobs. It takes time.

It's all derived from a few universal inputs within the parent - L,W,D/H, spacings, bar sepc, cogs, laps etc mostly defaults but independently adjustable

Count is by far the hardest!! start with area and once you start thinking geometrically it all comes together quickly.

The results a far beyond what i ever had before. its clean, fast and repeatable. every formula is secure and reference-able (not gut feel)

Hope that's helpful
