Variance Report for Takeoffs between version sets

Under Review

It would be nice to see the differences in takeoff between each version of plans so you can inform a client of what the design changes did to impact the costs.

Example - Column side by side comparison:

Total linear feet of interior walls per schematic design - X

Total linear feet of interior walls per schematic design - Y Delta - Went up X LF

This would enable projects where there are multiple revisions or scenerios being considered to quickly show which path is best to take or quickly flag scope creep on the project before the design is finalized.

Hey Brad, thanks for the feature request! This would be a pretty cool feature. I'll let the team know. 🙂

@Brad.

When you get the next set of plans do you make a new project in zzTO? Or do you try to do it all in one project?

All in one project

@Brad

Do you do it for SD/DD/CD level too when it changes drastically....... I find it gets to be a cluster F and impossible to manage and our best practice is to make a new project for the same project. So now I'm pondering what else do we need in zzTO to not make it a cluster F if one project is the way. Few thoughts:

One thought..... we need A massive epic filter, you pick the milestone planset and all data gets fltered to that. IE.... Pages of old crap, gone.....right takeoff pane only filtered to that set.....reports only filtered to that set. Layers only filtered to that set. Hmmmm......still think the best path is separate, but IDK.

It can get busy. I organize the drawings into folders from concept thru CD to better tell a story to the client all in one place and just consolidate the folders I don’t need for past versions. I’m liking where zz is going for revision control and migrating the takeoff to the latest version. We use ACCs takeoff along with onscreen and ACCs biggest pro is the quick snapshot of quantity changes from version to version. Zz beats it in a number of ways in features which is why I’m pushing for it with our department

Brad,

I dropped a detailed concrete estimate from 50%CD to 100%CD and was shocked at the epic comparison report I got out of claude. I bet the zTeam can get this variance going quick if they get the tool setup better to handle major drawing set updates without all the noise of the past.

thats cool Claude got it mostly figured out. What’s your experience with copilot? Thats what we are mandated to use from corporate
