I've used bluebeam exclusively for 7 years and tried zztakeoff trial just out of curiosity. 2 small things I think would be helpful for someone like me if I was to make the leap to something new.
1 - When you draw a box over something and choose the highlight option, it would be nice if those highlights were tracked in the take off list to the right. Also being able to rename them and allowing clicking on them or something to be a hyperlink that takes you directly to it in the drawings. Bluebeam allows this in thier markup list and it's a huge time saver when revisiting a project you previously bid. Someone asks a question about Room 100 or whatever and all I have to do is find the highlight I called "Room 100" in the markup list > click it > and now I'm instantly there. Take it a step further and if you're highlighting multiple items in 1 area it would be incredible to group those highlights together so they read as a single "take off" with the same name. Rather than "room 100" showing 5 times in a list if there are 5 highlighted items in that room, it just shows once because all 5 are grouped together as a single item. It's kind of just a QoL life/organizational thing to make the list of take offs less cluttered/bloated.
2 - This is niche but when I scale a dimension I'd like the option to be able to have it display the measurement in inches, rather than feet. Again, bluebeam allows this option and while I understand it's very niche, it's a huge time saver for me as our internal pricing program requires sizes to input as inches. For example I can't plug in 10', I have to plug in 120". While I can sit here and do the mental math and convert a dimension from feet to inches, it's just an extra step that bluebeam is able to eliminate from my process with a simple settings change. EDIT: upon further use, I prefer the way the "linear" tool creates a new item in the take off list to the right and shows the dimension rather than how the dimension tool just shows the dimension on the page but doesn't get added to the take off list on the right, again if there could just be an option to have it displayed in inches rather than feet it would be awesome.
Newest update allows linear tool to display as inches which is great. Now if I could just be picky for a second....a option to make this a default global setting or allow shift clicking or ctrl clicking multiple linear take offs at once and adjusting the properties of everything selected at one time would take it to the next level.
Hi John, sorry for the delay in getting back with you. This is in review with our development team. We will keep you posted on the progress. Thanks so much!
