Eric Bostrom Subcontractor/vendor limited access to selected sheets/workspace
With the upcoming project/workspace/archive project management update could you please consider a feature so we can provide external Subcontractor/vendor limited access to selected sheets/workspace? E.g. select 3 sheets on a project, then share sheets w/ takeoff to a subcontractor read-only? Or, create a workspace, copy sheets w/ takeoff to this workspace, then share the workspace with external vendor read-only?
Hi Eric. Yes, we're working on this as part of the update. It will either be called "Layers" or "Spaces" (we haven't finalized the name yet, but will have the same general concept).
There are a couple primary scenarios we see here:
1. You want to share specific data from your project to a sub-contractor with limited access, but you get to see everything the sub-contractor does in the layer you granted (if you allow limited editing) since it's in "your" project.
2. The sub-contractor may want to copy the project into their own workspace, so they can work on their own copy of the project without the data going back to the GC, for privacy reasons.
Any further input is welcome if you have other example scenarios that you want to see. Thanks for all the input.
