Roll Take Off

Planned

Being in the flooring trade we have a number of products that come in rolls. Carpet, Vinyl etc.

We really need the takeoff software to take roll width and length as input parameters, and then put seems in the take off areas, then output the linear meterage if roll required.

In square rooms it's usually very close to net M2 but for more complex shapes it can be significantly different.

As a stretch deliverable, some carpets have pattern matching, additional parameters to support this on the roll product would be needed. The seams, sometimes require an additional take off (ie. Weld for sheet vinyl). It should count the lm of the seams to allow purchasing of these extra products

Thanks for the input. I think we could plan for some plugins that would solve this. 🙂

Thanks for your response.

Are you saying you would put add functionality in so someone else externally could write a plugin to make this happen?

Hi Matt. We will likely build this plugin ourselves since there would be a significant use case for it. This allows us to make so that it's not "in the way" for users that may not need it, and you just install it if you want the functionality.

Makes sense!

I'll eagerly await an update, unfortunately without it we are unable to use the software as all our takeoffs use some from of sheet good.

Hi Matt,

Sounds like you need a carpet tool. We have some experience working on tools like this but we will likely be looking for people to run it through some real world scenarios when this is available. Would you mind if we contact you when we get to that point? You will also be notified as the status changes on this topic.

Derek 100% its for carpet, but there are plenty of other products that come in rolls that the same principles will apply (rubber/vinyl etc.)

Yes for sure, very happy to do the early testing and provide feedback! Will keep an eye on the thread for updates
