Would it be possible to bring in the magnifier? That was a legacy Planswift feature that I used a TON - even had the "M" key mapped to a button on my mouse so that I could quickly pop up a zoomed in area around the cursor to drop points rather than zooming in and out on the whole plan.
Forgot about that, haven't used it in a couple months. It was nifty on massive structures that had insane amounts of details on the floor plans
I think I would prefer a method of quickly defining 2 different zoom levels to hotkeys. So together with “zoom to fit” you would have 3 zooms to work with. Zoom the whole screen and avoid the tunnel vision effect.
Really handy on the civil side. For example: You're taking off water meters and services in a new development. Keep the page zoomed out so you can keep an idea where you are and can jump from lot to lot easily, but hit the magnify button to drop that count right on the meter box (which makes it easier and cleaner when you come back later to take off the water service pipe from the main to the meter. Similar: taking off fittings on the main line. stay zoomed out and move around faster, but magnify to drop the fitting in the right spot.
To John's idea: porque no los dos? I can see how both use cases would be helpful in my work.
I am not against the magnifer, but my experience with FPS games tells me that there is no loss of context when scoping in and out quickly enough. Show me the world’s fastest estimator, and I’ll show you a dozen average FPS players that are faster and more accurate.
Thanks for all the input. Interesting concept on the magnifier to zoom the whole screen temporarily using "M" like a "zoom shift" for the whole image view area. Honestly, from a technical standpoint, this method would be the easiest. We will test a few options.
As a side note, once we have snapping ability on PDF points, it will also help a lot for accurate takeoffs with less need to zoom in/out as much.
I call that zoom to area or selection. Very handy tool in civil plans, reading elevations.
I miss the "M" key for sniping details quickly as well
We finished developing the magnifier feature, and will be in the next release 🙂
The new magnifier magnifies the whole view area. We hope you'll like it.
