Custom Properties for Product Lists

It would be very helpful if the product list itself could have custom properties that all products within that list could reference.

My suppliers provide base prices with a multiplier for each product category. Ideally, I could store the multiplier once as a property of the product list, then use a formula to calculate cost each. Then changing that one value updates the whole category.
