It would be extremely helpful if items and products could maintain a linked relationship when copied between templates. Currently, when an item is created in one template and then copied into a new template, any future changes made to the original item are not reflected in the copied versions. As a result, each instance must be updated manually, which becomes very time-consuming when the same item exists across multiple templates.
Please consider implementing an option that allows copied items to remain linked to their source item, so that updates to the original can automatically propagate to all templates where the item is used. This would significantly reduce maintenance effort, improve consistency, and make managing large template libraries much more efficient.
I think that EDINUSA has a valid point, I do understand that having one part tied to multiple assemblies could cause zzTakeoff to be restrictive data list, because if you make a change it would effect all the assemblies. Stack has a real issue with this, because they have one product in multiple assemblies. and when they update pricing it can change old bids.
But zzTakeoff has an amazing development team, I am sure that they could solve this.... or eventually we will get a linked pricing table that can change multiple reproductions of the same product...
I think this is on the horizon, I doubt Stack has even thought about making improvements.
Thank you Todd!
I completely agree with this request! Keep Lists and templates linked. Sever the link once it is in the take off tab.
