When I do a takeoff, the software should auto-categorize items to the right WBS codes — both company and project-specific.
If I draw a drywall wall, it should instantly tag:
No more manual dropdowns. Just give me a toggle to turn “Smart Auto-Coding” on/off and a quick way to edit or apply to similar items.
Start simple, rule-based by template or keywords (“drywall,” “concrete,” “pipe”), then learn from user overrides.
Let the tool do the coding; let estimators focus on estimating.

Thanks Kyle! I agree, we can do a lot with AI in this realm. We're looking forward to adding a lot of AI stuff once we get the core foundation in place. We're planning to allow users to build custom AI commands and you could tell it what you want it to do and when (such as - every time I save a new takeoff, allow AI to double check things, etc. but the way it double checks would be totally customizable by the user). Users will be able to customize zzTakeoff quite a bit to their own preferences and workflows. We're building a platform, and we want to get everyone building inside it. 🙂
