Whether I'm just browsing through a set of plans or trying to use any of the take off tools ZZ keeps freezing to the point that I have to close it out completely. Checked internet speed tests and rebooted computer, continuing to have the same issues.
Strange. Do you have any chrome extensions that may be interfering. We will check on our end. Also, I'm interested to know if anyone else is having this issue.
I too have noticed that ZZ has begun to lag a bit when swapping between pages. It’s usually less than 10 seconds but it’s awkward. I had chalked it up to a slow connection. I'm running Edge with no addons or extensions.
We checked the servers and there are no significant CPU spikes or anything abnormal lately. Just let us know if you find any additional clues. It seems to be going pretty smoothly for us, but we'll keep digging.
Hi Heber,
As of not taking too much notice at the time and I should mention, only happened once in the last 2 month, but following Joe’s mention of his issue, I felt it was important to report it for awareness and potential investigation. Upon logging into ZZ, my laptop became completely unresponsive for quite a while and required a manual restart by holding down the power button. While I cannot confirm definitively whether this behavior was caused by the ZZ system or if it was coincidental, I wanted to bring it to attention for further review.
@joe
This maybe the initial local caching of pages when you set up a new Project. The b subway to test it is go to a Page you haven't then to a Page you have previously opened.
If the page opens instantly it is cached to your local machine.
Please test it and let us know the results.
Tried it again, and still having the same bug issues. Tried Sam's advice but it is still lagging pretty heavily. Not running any other extensions or anything.
@Joe,
Is it possible for you to send to us the Original PDF,, too ascertain if there is an issue with the File. I will be happy to look into that aspect for you to eliminate that possibility.
You can email me at sam@zztakeoff.com
I've been digging into this with the developers. We are wondering if maybe this is caused by the new PDF Point Snapping feature. Some PDF files have hundreds of thousands of points to load when the page switches. Please try disabling PDF point snapping and let us know if this improves the speed. If it does, we will dig further into speed optimizations in this area.

Great point. I will be mindful the next couple of days and see what happens
In our digging we do believe it is related to processing the PDF point snapping data. Some of the plans having issues have 3 million+ points on the page. We're working on some updates to process this data in a background worker which will more efficiently use multiple processor threads.
For now, disabling PDF point snapping will help as a work-around for anyone having speed issues caused by this.
We just released an update which should have a significant impact on speed with these large plans. Please let us know if you run into any more issues.
Turning off the PDF snapping fixed the issue, with the new update it seems like I can have pdf snapping back on now and it works okay. Will try on the larger set of plans I have and see if I have any issues there like I did previously. Thank you for getting this taken care of so quickly! Huge props to the ZZ team!
I’ve also noticed that it’s speedier today. The loading into the cache is still noticeable but now that I know what it is, I’m more accepting.
Thanks guys! We will keep tuning to make it better and faster 🙂
