Unwanted Page Name Changes

Under Review

When I get ready to do a takeoff on a job, I separate out the plan pages and name them in a way I can identify them. For instance, I might extract the Life Safety plan and name is "LS". When I upload the file "LS" to zztakeoff, I uncheck the boxes under AI Auto Detect labeled "Page Name" and "Sheet #". Upon uploading, the name of the file gets changed to the number that the sheet was in the PDF I extracted it from (in other words, if there are 10 pages in the construction drawing PDF and LS is the second page, the page gets renamed to "2" in zztakeoff).

I'd like the option to have my file name from my PC carry over to zztakeoff without having to rename it when uploaded.

Hey Christian! I looked into this. When you upload a PDF, there are two names in play: the file name and the page name embedded in the PDF itself (set by whoever built it). If a PDF has a single page, we check for an embedded page name and fall back to the file name if there isn't one. With multiple pages, we use the embedded page names, falling back to "Page 1," "Page 2," etc.

Separately, we have the AI page rename that you unchecked that uses AI to rename the page based on the sheet title & sheet #.

For your use case, are you splitting the pages out 1 by 1, or are you splitting them out in groups? I'll mention this to the team, and we could potentially have an option to force the "File Name" to be the page name if there is 1 page in the PDF.

Lorin,

I do both depending on the category of the page. If there are multiple floorplans across multiple pages, I would typically print (print to PDF in Adobe) those as a group and just call the file "floorplans." Other times I may only need one page and print it the same as the other but have just one page instead of multiple.

If possible, I'd like to have the option to retain the pdf file name when uploaded, regardless of how many pages there are in the file.

Thanks!
