Extract Schedule - Change Takeoff Type

Completed

When you use the Extract Schedule tool, takeoff items are created for each item in the schedule. The system seems to infer the takeoff type (count, area, linear). Is there a way to change the takeoff type which was after it is automatically created by the Extract Schedule tool?

Thanks for the input John. This popup is coming soon to allow you to confirm the schedule and the takeoff measurement types. You'll be able to change the takeoff item type or the name. This is a start, but in the future, we'll add more columns (auto extracted from the page) and options here.

John,

Yes, we've addressed this in our latest update! When using the Extract Schedule tool, you now have the ability to verify and modify takeoff types, rename or correct names extracted, and edit the folder name before the schedule is created in Takeoff Totals ready for completing takeoffs.

Here's how it works:

  1. When you use Extract Schedule, you'll see a new popup window
  2. In this popup, you can review all detected items
  3. For each item, you can see and modify:
  • Type (with icons for Area, Linear, Segment, or Count)
  • Name as extracted by AI

You can also sort the schedule items by either Type or Name by clicking the column headers:

  • First click: Sort ascending
  • Second click: Sort descending
  • Third click: Return to original order

This sorting works for both the Type and Name columns, making it easier to organize and verify your schedule before creation.

Let us know if you have any questions about using this new feature!

This is great. The only small speed enhancements I would suggest for this are the ability to click the 3 dots up top next to Type and have an "apply all" button to change all items to the type you selected, and the ability to omit some of the items on the list that it generates from being extracted. This is not urgent at all, as both of these functions can be manually handled.

Thanks for the input Jes. As a work-around for now you can use the auto-fill handle in the lower right of the cell on the type, and also if you select one that is "Count" for example, and copy to clipboard...you can then multi-select and paste. Any items that are missing either the name or the type will be skipped when clicking create. We'll improve as you suggest, too. Just for reference, if you select all cells in the "Name" column, there's an option in the right click menu to "Convert to Title Case" and "Convert to Upper Case" so you can easily toggle them as a batch.

Oh I see, I did not realize that. So if you change one item, then you can click and drag down on the little blue box afterwards, it will fill all the cells below like in Excel.

And to omit any items from export, you can just delete the type next to it by pressing the delete key on your keyboard, and they will be skipped.

Thanks for those usage tips, super helpful!

Cool. I'm glad that worked. We'll work to improve the UI also based on your input.

Can we make this popup movable? It currently locks the screen and blocks the page, which we may need to view to make changes to the list

Heber Allred zzTakeoff64d 16h

Jes. Sure. We'll do it.
